Quick verdict

Consider it if: You need an obscure app connected and want it working today without developer help.

Look elsewhere if: You process tens of thousands of records a month or need loops and heavily conditional logic.

Compare Zapier with Make · Not sure what you need?

Zapier is a no-code automation service that connects the apps a business already uses and moves information between them automatically. The unit of work is a Zap: a trigger in one app followed by one or more actions in others, such as adding a new form submission to your CRM and posting a note to your team chat. It has by far the widest app catalogue in this market, which is the main reason people pick it. In recent years Zapier has expanded beyond simple automation into tables, forms, chatbots and AI agents.

What you can actually do with it

Zaps are built in a step-by-step editor, so you configure one action at a time rather than drawing a diagram.

Who it fits best

Zapier is the default choice for small businesses, freelancers and non-technical teams who want automation working the same afternoon. Office managers, marketers, recruiters and small agency owners all get real value from it without help from a developer. It is also a pragmatic option for larger teams who need one specific integration that nobody wants to build in-house.

It is a weaker fit if your workflows are high volume or heavily conditional. When you are processing tens of thousands of records a month, or need loops and complex data manipulation, both the cost model and the builder start to work against you.

Things worth knowing before you commit

Alternatives to compare it against

Make is the closest comparison and usually better value at higher volumes, with a visual canvas that handles branching and loops more gracefully, at the cost of a steeper learning curve. n8n suits teams who want similar power plus the option to self-host. IFTTT is simpler and cheaper if your needs are basic or involve smart devices. If your business runs on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, check what Power Automate or Apps Script already covers before paying for a third-party tool. For heavy enterprise integration with governance requirements, Workato and Tray are the tier above.

Task allowances, plan tiers and which features and apps sit behind them change regularly. Check Zapier’s own pricing page before you buy.
